Interior design firm Crosby Design Group continues to serve as a resource for developers, home builders and custom homeowners at its residential and commercial design studios. Established by Jennifer Crosby in 2000, the Crosby Design Group team is comprised of experienced professional design consultants that understand the entire design process and work with each client to adapt to project-specific needs.
According to Stonecrest Homes President Charles Heiser, Stonecrest opts to use Crosby Design Group’s outsourced design centers instead of creating an onsite studio because “it is best to keep this process with folks that do it every day.”
A longtime studio client, Heiser explains that what specifically lead Stonecrest Homes to work with Crosby Design Group is Jennifer’s ability to listen and adjust to builder and client needs, then she drives it home with her Group. The firm’s team is better suited to answer ongoing questions from consumers.
Best known for its luxury homes throughout the metro Atlanta area, in addition to its new empty-nester lifestyle options, Peachland Homes is another design studio client, having used outsourced design studios for the last 28 years.
“As we get more entrenched in luxury and architectural design while also wanting to provide excellence, if someone can do something better, I want to let them,” Peachland Homes President Ty White said. “We build a diverse product line including empty-nester homes in the $400,000s to $500,000s, move-up projects in Roswell from the $800,000s and high-end luxury from the $3 million+.
“All have different needs, but what the buyer wants as far as level of experience is the same,” White said. “Crosby Design Group understands the [overall] experience, no matter which home you are buying, with diverse expertise in areas, products and style variations including modern farmhouse, historical recreations, postmodern and contemporary. You’ve got to have a design team that can help in all of these areas.”
Additionally, with the rise of digital and virtual renderings, there is still a significant portion of homebuyers that prefer to see design options in person before making selections.
“You see people walking through a home and they touch things without even thinking about it,” White said. “So much is seen digitally, that if you don’t have someone that knows what they are doing, you can have 20 different features in the home with no cohesion – it can look like Pinterest threw up in your home.
“This really puts a premium on what Crosby can do to put a cohesive thread through it,” White said. “We want to make sure that our buyers are happy with the home and the design.”
In reference to previous experiences with other design centers, White explains that studios must be able to do two things well: connect with the customer to channel their desires in a creative way while also keeping everything within budget.
“You have to be able to communicate with the client and the builder and other suppliers,” White said. “Crosby does all of this well. Two very different skill sets – people and creativity, as well as accounting.”
